Keratsini offers a respite from the crowds of Central Athens while still being under an hour by public transportation. It is situated on the Saronic Gulf coast, dating back to 480 B.C. The heavily residential area is dotted with urban parks and historic ships. This suburb has an urban flair, with very eclectic architecture thanks in large part to its history.
The area was founded in ancient times by displaced peoples fleeing natural disasters and war. The cultural and ethnic diversity is still evident in much of the architecture.
