Accessed by a long private driveway, this beautiful three bedroom pristine historic home is situated on 35 open country and woodland acres and backs onto 1,000 acres of nature conversancy. It offers exceptional Catskill Mountain views and rural seclusion 5 minutes from the center of Hudson, NY. A unique and private home, it offers the option of long walks, mountain biking or x-country skiing on the property or in the conservation area. A featured home on a historic home tour, it was described as "a hidden jewel" in a Hudson Valley newspaper.
With antique furniture and paintings, beautiful wooden floors throughout, original detailed wood moldings, a lovely kitchen with its original fireplace and bread-oven, this is a unique property. Its' gorgeous sunny formal dinning room is lit by an antique crystal chandelier. The beautiful living room has a working fire place to relax in front of on cold days. The outside patio and gardens make this an elegant relaxing home away from home.
In addition to its many historic details, the house offers contemporary living amenities including High Speed Internet (WiFi), HiFi, flat screen TVs in living room and bedrooms, Netflix and Amazon, dish washer, a contemporary range/oven, microwave, Nespresso machine, Soda Stream, and a washer/dryer.
The classic grand hallway with a ceiling oil lamp, original decorative ceiling & floor moldings leads to the second floor with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The carrara marble-tiled bathrooms are appointed with high-end Restoration Hardware faucets and shower units.
The first bedroom has a queen-sized bed. It has an ajoining bathroom. The second bedroom has a full-sized double bed and an ensuite bathroom. The third bedroom, which used to be the maid's room a century ago, has two single beds. All of these sunny bedrooms are beautifully decorated with antiques.
This home offers great opportunities for all-year round relaxation. In the summer enjoy the white garden furniture and alfresco dinners on our outside dinning table. We have both a gas and charcoal BBQ and an outside fireplace. The house offers a broad range of views and locations to relax and enjoy the surroundings which are constantly changing with the seasons.
Enjoy our 2/3 of an acre swimming pond. It offers a cool and natural swimming experience as well as the opportunity to relax on the water in our canoe. There's a neighboring kid-friendly town park. Walk to Friday evening summer concerts or picnic in the Conservation area.
Enjoy cherry blossoms in the spring, fireflies in June, cool swimming in the summer, the leaves changing in the fall, and cross-country skiing in the winter. With central heating and cooling the house offers all season comfort.
Take time to explore the exceptional food , culture, and antique shopping offered in Hudson, the outdoor experience of the Catskills mountains, or other area communities including Woodstock. Visit Olana, the master-piece home of painter Frederic Church, the homes of President Franklin Roosevelt and President Martin Van Buren, the mansion of gilded age Vanderbilt family summer retreat. The house is 2 hour drive or 2-hour stunning train ride from NYC. It is a 3.5 hour drive from Boston and 45 Minutes from Albany airport.

Please kindly note: Sorry, we do not accept dogs to protect our 210 year-old original hardwood floors. We are a strictly no shoes (we provide guest slippers), no smoking house and property.
While the house will be thoroughly cleaned prior to guests arriving, we have cats, so if you are allergic, please kindly take this into consideration. We also have bee hives 250 yards from the house.
We rent our home for a limited number of days a year.
