GETTING AROUND
Taupō is centrally located in the middle of the North Island of New Zealand, about 3 ½ hours’ drive from Auckland and 4 ½ hours’ drive from Wellington. Taupō is within a two-hour drive of Waitomo Caves to the west, Hamilton to the north, Tauranga to the east and Ruapehu to the south.
The intercity bus stop is in the centre of Taupo town. An easy 5 minute walk to the information centre known as the i-site. From there you can get a ride on the Taupo Hot Bus to Huka Falls and other attractions in the area. Huka Falls is 5 minutes drive north of Taupo.
