Inspired by sails, ‘Saltwater’ is all about the experience, with facilities and amenities that complement the natural setting. Picture yourself waking in an iconic property to the sound of crashing waves, watching surfers below at ‘Steps’ surf break.
The expanse of land in front of you, virtually tumbling down to the sea, makes you take a deep breath and stop to admire this spectacular coastline. Your field of view is so stretched that it’s impossible to see everything at once; from the silhouettes of landforms on the distant East Coast, to the far-reaching horizon and infinite sky. The vast ocean vista invokes rejuvenation for the body, mind and soul.
The main house accommodates up to 8 guests in 4 bedrooms, with 2 bathrooms (plus additional toilet) and 2 living zones, this is the ideal setting for a memorable family holiday, group of friends or executive travellers. There is an additional Double bed (for guests 9 and 10) in a detached 'Base Cabin', that also has a bar fridge, sink and bench seating overlooking the pool - but there are no privacy blinds, toilet/bathroom or heating/cooling.
Entertainers will enjoy the kitchen with high quality amenities: double St George wall oven, cooktop and double fridge, combined with world-class views, make meal preparation a delight. A distinctive granite island bench will be the site for sharing food and conversation, overlooking the 8-seater dining table. The mood of the house is constantly changing, as the elements set the tone of light and colour through high windows onto limestone block walls.
There is space for everyone, both for lively communal gatherings and quiet retreat. The main living room has leather lounge suites so you can sit and be mesmerised by the sea, watch TV (Smart TV - log in with your own Netflix account), or light the open fire and watch the ships go by...
Upstairs is an observation tower, with even more expansive ocean and coastline views. Your line of sight extends all the way to Port Phillip Heads and Cape Schanck in the east, and across the Jan Juc hamlet and bushland to the northwest. Set up with bean bags and a day bed, this is a perfect teenage refuge.
Imagine cooking a BBQ on the terrace, or cooking on the Escea fire table, reflecting on long days spent at the beach or exploring the region... Recline on sun lounges or chase the sun by the pool and spa (spa set to heat at particular time per day). The property has amazing native landscaped gardens and is fully fenced; kids and pets will love playing on the sweeping lawns (Pets welcome, subject to approval at time of booking, and extra pet $50 fee). Head out to walk along the Surf Coast Walk to Bells or Jan Juc beach. A mini golf course (play 9 holes, return for 18) is a huge highlight, plus an in-ground trampoline - guaranteed to keep everyone happy!
All four bedrooms embrace the easterly views, with floor to ceiling glazing framing unhindered ocean views. A King size bed in the Master is the ultimate place to wake up to sunrise over Bass Strait, or fall asleep star gazing. This room has a walk-in robe and a large ensuite with frameless shower, toilet and bidet. Smart TV (sign into your own streaming accounts) in master bedroom.
All rooms have an abundance of natural light, and are appointed with hotel quality sheets and bath towels, making your stay as pleasurable as possible. Please note: Sheer blinds in all bedrooms offer privacy, but they do not block 100% light. Bring eye masks if you prefer to sleep in longer in the mornings.

Guests can access the entire property, including driveway car parking and a garage. 9/18 hole mini golf course, in-ground trampoline, solar-heated pool, and spa (pool instructions/usage provided for guests).
The Neighborhood:
This is a quiet residential neighbourhood, so pool/spa use will be limited to daylight hours in respect of our neighbours.
Beaches - Our beautiful local beaches include world famous surfing reserve, Bells Beach and Winkipop, a short walk from our back gate along the Surf Coast Walk trail. Straight down the gully track there’s waves for experienced surfers only, called Steps, and Bird Rock and Jan Juc surf beaches are located a short walk or drive to the east.
Family-favourite, Cosy Corner, is a few km’s away & both Jan Juc and Torquay beaches offers patrolled family options for swimming & surfing in the summer months.
Spring Creek caters to family fishing, SUPing, kayaking.
There are plenty of cafes and restaurants locally, with many more restaurants, wineries and breweries around the region.
Adventure Park is also a great day out with the kids – approx. 30mins drive away.
Getting Around:
Our beach house is within easy walking/riding distance to beaches, parks and shops. Secure off-street parking available.
Buses to and from Torquay and Geelong (Number 50 or 51). Closest train station 20km away (Waurn Ponds station) for V/Line train Geelong- Melbourne.
Jan Juc is 1 hour 30 mins by car from Melbourne.

The walls are made from limestone, so please note this organic material is rough textured and sometimes drops white dust. This incredible home is set amongst nature and can be prone to cobwebs, watch outside for wildlife too, including resident echidnas.
The public access Great Ocean Walk track runs along the boundary fence of the property, so please note that people can see into this property as they walk along the spectacular track to Bells Beach and beyond.
