Escape the everyday hustle and bustle in an original mill worker's cottage in the heart of truffle and wine country in the beautiful Southern Forests region of South Western Australia. Splendid Wren Cottage is located a comfortable 20 minute drive from Manjimup and 35 minutes to Pemberton.

This two-bedroom character cottage is part of a historic mill settlement of 24 remaining cottages, hidden off the beaten track and offering a glimpse into the South West hinterland's timber town history.

Perfectly set up for couples, families or small groups of friends, Splendid Wren Cottage has been gently updated to offer all the comforts of a home away from home, without sacrificing the charm and character of this beautiful 80 year old forestry cabin.

Wake up to enjoy coffee at sunrise over the forest canopy from the east-facing verandah, spend your days exploring the old logging trails and return to see the resident kangaroos and emus gather at dusk. As the evening cools, settle in beside the slow-combustion fireplace and enjoy the fruits of the surrounding Manjimup and Pemberton wine regions.

Winter is truffle season, and the truffieres of the region offer hunting tours where you can uncover your own black gold alongside the very cute and clever truffle dogs. Over a dozen cellar doors welcome you to try cool climate wines year-round, and farms with roadside produce round out the food-bowl experience.

Couples will enjoy the cosy queen bedroom, supplied with an oversized plush doona and pillows to keep you warm over the frosty forest nights.

For families and groups of friends, a second bunk room offers a set of King Single bunk beds, as well as a Single-over-Double bunk.

Fresh quilt covers and pillowslips for all beds will be supplied for your stay.

The bathroom has a shower, vanity and toilet, with all toiletries, hand towels and bath mats supplied. For those looking for a more rustic experience, there is also a fully functioning out-house outside!

To keep our cleaning fees to a minumum and conserve our precious rain water, we ask you please bring your own sheets and bath towels, or get in touch if you would like to hire a set to be made up, ready for your arrival.

The kitchen is stocked with a variety of teas, hot chocolate and coffee pods, and looks out onto the rear entertaining area with a sheltered outdoor dining area to enjoy your creations from the wood-fired pizza oven under the stars.

Beds will be supplied with quilts, covers and pillow cases. Hand towels, tea towels, and bath mats are provided.To conserve our precious rain water we ask guests to bring sheets for their required beds, and bath towels. *Linen hire available on request*

- Splendid Wren Cottage is over 80 years old and memories have been made here since 1939. While the cottage has been updated for your comfort, it is a charmingly rustic timber forest cabin.

- Our proximity to the forest means you may encounter wildlife during your stay. Please do not feed the animals for their health and your safety.

- During seasonal changes, this may also mean there can be more flies, mosquitoes or even the occasional mouse or possum seeking refuge.

- Manjimup is the closest town with fuel, supermarkets and restaurants, and is approximately 20 minutes' drive. Operating hours are similar to the metro area.

- The Southern Forests region is often colder and wetter than metropolitan Perth. Please check the local forecast ahead of your stay and pack accordingly.

- Fires may only be lit between April and October, and outdoor fires can only be lit in the designated firepits throughout the village. Bring your marshmallows and enjoy!
