6 Schlafzimmer Haus in Dursley, North Nibley

As you drive along the country lanes approaching this enchanting house, you'll feel the hustle and bustle of town and city life melt away. The hedge-lined lanes lead you to Tyndale House's elegant 19th century frontage (circa 1886) adorned with a twisting wisteria. On down the little lane, you'll come to a private drive that winds up behind the house to reveal the fabulous garden, games rooms and outside entertaining area.
The key to a successful holiday rental for a large group is space, comfort and flexibility. Tyndale House has all three in boat loads! On the ground floor there are two reception rooms, a living-dining room and a drawing room (both with log burning stoves and TVs), a big and practical kitchen-breakfast room, a cloakroom with WC and two super-king/twin bedrooms. Head up the staircase to the first floor where there are four more double bedrooms, one is king-size, two are ensuite and three can be super-king or twins, plus there's a roomy family bathroom. Four, comfortable, single Z beds are part of the sleeping arrangement, and can be placed in guests' choice of room.
The outside space is as perfect for large groups as is the inside, with its well-stocked private garden, designated hot tub area, paved terrace, complete with a BBQ, and table and seating for outdoor eating. The lawn is big and flat enough for a garden swing and badminton, while there's also outdoor table tennis (weather permitting) and two games rooms with a small pool table, football table, air hockey and safety darts. Parking for large groups has also been planned for with seven parking spaces.
*Dogs: 4 well-behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage at an additional cost each. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog and we will then revise your booking confirmation. The pet fee is NOT included in your booking fee. A request for an additional fee per pet will be sent to you after you have placed your booking. Your pet fee must be paid for before your arrival date.
Ground Floor
Entrance Hall:
The original entrance at the front of the house opens into a pretty, tiled hallway, with a long bureau that's handy for leaving your keys, hats and gloves.
Kitchen/Breakfast Room:
From the hallway, take one step up into the bright and welcoming kitchen, with its flagstone floor, polished granite worktops, triple windows with a view through to the utility area and the patio and garden. A long, central table seats eight guests, while a dinky children's table seats three little ones. The kitchen is fully equipped for a large group, with plenty of indoor, and outdoor glasses, crockery, cutlery and cooking items as well as two fridges (with a third in the utility room) and a freezer.
Utility Room:
The handy utility room (into which guests initially arrive from the back door) is equipped with a double sink and an under counter fridge and washing machine. Coat hooks, ironing equipment, boot storage and a clothes airer are provided in a walk-in cupboard. At one end, a door leads out to the patio and garden while at the other there is a step down into Bedroom Six. A further door leads to the hallway.
Drawing Room:
The elegant drawing room is at the front of the house, with a view down the quiet country lane approaching the house. Originally two rooms, this delightful space is cosy yet spacious with one end furnished with a sofa and three armchairs around an ornate Victorian fireplace, while the other is set up to enjoy the woodburning stove and view the large smart TV from a comfy three-seater sofa. The room is furnished with occasional tables and reading lamps.
Living-Dining Room:
This fabulously spacious and light living and dining space is a recent extension that perfectly complements the original house, with its old oak beams and arching windows, one of which opens to the patio. To one end is the dining area seating up to 14 guests around a long, rectangular table, with a large sideboard and butler's sink to hand. At the far end is a cosy seating area with two sofas and two armchairs and a low coffee table - there's even a little play area with wooden toys tucked away in the far corner. Between the dining and living area there's a large inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove and two armchairs.
Inner Hallway:
At the heart of the house, at the foot of the staircase, is the inner hallway which is the connecting room between the ground floor bedrooms, the cloakroom, the drawing room and the living-dining room. Here you'll find a piano, chair and armchair where you can tickle the ivories should you wish.
Bedroom Six:
This pretty, panelled bedroom features a stone fireplace with a log burning stove (non-operational) decorated with fairy lights, a stone floor with cosy rugs and a deep window seat to enjoy the view of the garden and patio. The bedroom is furnished with a zip and link bed which can either be made up as a super-king double or twin (as photo), a small chest of drawers with a mirror, an armchair and a luggage rack. To the side of each bed is a bedside table and reading lamp. Please note, this bedroom has a central beam (low for those over 6ft/1.8m), two low doorways (both lockable from the inside) and a step outside each door.
Bedroom Five:
Tucked away in the far corner of the ground floor, this pretty bedroom, with its painted timbers, original feature fireplace, ornate cornice and in-built cupboard is furnished with a zip and link bed which can either be made as a super-king double or twin. To the side of each bed is a bedside table and reading lamp. Hooks and hangers are provided to hang up coats. Perch on the wide window seat and take a moment to relax with a book.
Please note whilst there is a ground floor cloakroom, guests staying in Bedroom Five nad Six should be aware the main family bathroom is on the first floor.
Cloakroom:
It may just be the downstairs loo, but it has character too, with its wooden floorboards and entertaining wall art. Here you'll find a WC, wash basin, vanity unit, mirror over the sink, shaving point and antique pine storage chest.
First Floor
Stairs (carpeted with a handrail) lead up to a wide and carpeted landing with a large wardrobe, rocking chair and bookcase - a great place to sit and read and gaze out of the window while rocking or perched on the window seat.
Bedroom Four:
This pretty grey and blue ensuite bedroom is furnished with a zip and link bed that can either be made up as a super-king double or twin. Bedside tables and reading lamps sit to either side of the bed. In addition, there's a small chest of drawers and in-built wardrobe with hanging space.
Ensuite Shower Room:
Take a shallow step up from the bedroom into the ensuite shower room which has a corner shower with overhead and handheld shower heads, a washbasin, large mirror and shaver point, WC and heated towel rail.
Head up two steps from the main landing into a small inner landing off which are Bedroom Two and Bedroom Three. Here you'll find a handy full-length mirror.
Bedroom Three:
This charming, bright and light ensuite bedroom is furnished with a zip and link bed, which can either be made up as a super-king double or twin. Bedside tables and reading lamps sit to either side of the bed. Below the two windows, with a view down the country lane, is a wall-width dressing table with drawers, a mirror and chair. The bedroom has a double wardrobe with plenty of shelves, drawers and hanging space.
Ensuite Shower Room:
The spa-like ensuite features polished limestone and marble floor and walls tiles, and a wall-sized mirror above the wash basin fitted into custom built vanity unit. The shower room has a corner shower with overhead and handheld shower heads and a WC.
Bedroom Two:
Tucked away, off the inner landing, is another delightful bedroom with reminders of the house's age provided by the ornate, Victorian fireplace. The bedroom is furnished with a zip and link bed, which can either be made up as a super-king double or twin, with bedside tables and lamps to either side. The bedroom has an antique dressing table with a mirror and chair and a recessed hanging space with hangers. Please note that this bedroom has a low entrance door and slightly uneven floor at the entrance.
Bedroom One:
From the main landing, head up one step into this pretty bedroom with its double aspect overlooking the patio and gardens, which guests can enjoy from either of two window seats. The bedroom is divided into two areas by a LOW BEAM, with a king-size double bed, bedside tables and reading lamps, a dressing table and luggage rack to one side and a dressing area with chest of drawers and hooks with hangers.
Please note, if you are over 5'2" (158cm) tall you will have to duck to move between the entrance/dressing room area and the rest of the bedroom. The beam is covered with a foam panel to prevent any serious bangs to the head.
Family Bathroom:
The family bathroom has a full-size bath with an overhead and hand-held shower, a WC and a wash basin with a shaver point and a mirror above it. A big window provides a lovely view out to the nearby trees.
Outside
Tyndale House is set in a beautiful, well-stocked private garden, with a designated hot tub area surrounded by mood-setting lighting. The paved terrace has a charcoal BBQ (available May-Sept), and a dining table, chairs and parasol for outdoor eating. Next to the terrace is a covered veranda with an L-shaped sofa and coffee table - perfect for a morning coffee or post meal relaxation. The door from the utility area, which adjoins the kitchen, opens to the terrace and patio, making it easy to carry food and drinks in and out.
The lawn has a large children's swing and plenty of space for outdoor games, including table tennis and badminton (bats, balls, racquets and shuttlecocks provided). Two stables, sitting adjacent to the lawn, are where you'll find the games rooms. One has a mini snooker table (three large cues, two mini cues and balls provided) and the other has air hockey and a full-size football table. Both stables are lit and have portable heaters.
The rear garden is very family-friendly, but, like most gardens, is not 100 percent child or dog proof; there is an open gateway and drive which both have access to the road, so young children and animals should not be left alone and should be supervised at all times.
The house has a private driveway with parking for up to 7 cars: 3 at the top of the drive, 2 in the car port and, if necessary, 2 on the drive (these will block the two at the top). There is also one space available to the front of the house for a small car parked on the side of the road opposite the neighbours' house on the right.

Summary: We booked Tyndale House for my sisters hen weekend and it was perfect for the 15 of us. It’s spacious, beautifully decorated and has all the facilities needed for a trip away including enough cutlery, crockery etc for caterers to work with, strong wifi and seating (indoor and out) to name a few. Susannah was beyond helpful and gave us lots of tips and tricks on what we can do in the local area. She was quick to respond when we accidentally switched the internet off early one morning too! Brilliant location and we walked up to Tyndale monument for the stunning views. We would highly recommend!!!
