This unique four season property sits across from conservation land on the Penobscot River in Prospect Maine. You are across from a 1/2 mile trail down to the river, great for hiking and snowshoeing from the property and so many great hikes nearby. An awesome place to unwind with easy access for exploring mid coast and Downeast Maine. Less than 10 minutes to Rt 1 and The Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Rt 1A, 18 miles to Belfast, Castine, Blue Hill, Ellsworth. About an hour to Acadia NP and 45 min to Bangor. Great views of the land, river and wildlife.
The Guesthouse is quiet and peaceful. Your space is on the 2nd floor and the updated deck and stairs are sturdy and strong. It is a cozy space with one bedroom, queen size comfy bed, futon couch that can open with care, Smart TV, fully equipped kitchen and full bath. I have also upgraded the Internet for those looking for a remote place that is still connected. I will warn you that this is rural Maine and Internet can be intermittent but many guests have worked from here. I have been updating and up cycling so this property is a mix of old and new. Very clean, cozy and comfortable. Chalkboard painted walls, repurposed counters, new flooring, new stove and fridge, oil heat and a heat pump which is used for air conditioning in the summer, and generator on site if power goes out. There is room for two cars on either side of stairs up to the deck. This space is for up to two guests only. I appreciate sometimes guests have visitors for the day but please be clear in your communication. I live diagonally across the street in the blue house that I have posted a picture of. I am 420 friendly for those that wish to partake but keep the guesthouse clean and comfy for all. My space is certainly a great place to get away from it all :)
The first floor is a heated space that I use for storage and tools and there is also an attached 2 car garage on back side.
The entire apartment is yours while you are here. You have shared access to the 13+ acres down to the Penobscot River, fire pit, hiking and snowshoe trails. Your parking is off street next to stairs to Guest House Apartment. The land is only maintained by Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Alamoosook Lake is about 20 minutes away and a wonderful place to explore. So clean for swimming, picnicking, hiking trails and a second beautiful body of water called Craig Pond nearby. It is right next to the Craig Pond Fish Hatchery in Orland, ME.
Please park right next to the stairs to the deck on either side and leave room for a car to get in and out of the enclosed carport attached to building. I own the property on both sides of the road and the Guesthouse and Ranch House sit close to the road but it is not very busy as Bowden Point is NOT a through road. Bowden Point Extension is now owned by the Department of Inland Fisheries so it is open for the public to explore. They continued the road down as a turnaround and offer a few parking spaces. There are two homes within their bounds. Hunter orange should be worn during hunting season, Fall/Winter/Spring seasons. I do have some to borrow at the Guesthouse. During the school year the school bus does a turn around at the end of the road so you may hear some beeping in the am M-F. One of my neighbors waits for the bus with her kids so you may see a car parked nearby waiting around 7-7:15 am. In summer Maine is quite buggy and I do not use chemicals on the land. Must be tick/brown tail moth aware as well and please ask if you are not sure.
Also, our road has no posted speed limit but this is a neighborhood, lots of wildlife, people walk dogs and ride horses on occasion so please be aware and drive with care. Thank you
