Spacious, beautifully restored Farmhouse in quiet rural Hamlet near Josselin, Brittany | Haus in Mohon

Set in just under an acre of secluded gardens 2kms from Mohon with various amenities.
The accommodation, sleeps 8. The house is extremely comfortable with all the facilities for a self catering holiday. Attractively furnished and spacious, with large chestnut beams and wood or tiled floors throughout. Upstairs there are four large bedrooms, two with double beds and two with twin beds (a cot is also available), family bathroom and separate wc. Downstairs consists of a fully equipped kitchen with modern units, a large 40 foot dining/sitting room, cloakroom and wc. The sitting area has modern new furniture and comfortably seats 8 adults, TV and DVD player and a magnificent inglenook fireplace.
A maximum of two well behaved dogs are allowed but please be aware that the garden is not secure. A pet fee is applied.
Linen and towels are provided. Towels for use in the garden and outside of the house are not provided.
THE BRITTANY REGION
The property is in the Department of Morbihan in the beautiful region of Brittany in northern France.
Brittany is easily accessible from the UK via several Ferry Ports and is also served by flights from the UK.
From spectacular beaches with rugged coastlines to vast sandy expanses, to peaceful woods and forests and the famous Nantes-Brest Canal, Brittany has all the makings of a perfect holiday.
The cuisine in the area includes crepes and galettes and of course the seafood! Mussels and oysters are available throughout the region, particularly in the summer months. Cider is produced here and local varieties are available in all supermarkets and restaurants.
During the summer numerous villages and town celebrate the "Pardon" which is predominantly a religious thanksgiving but is always followed by a celebratory meal (with a drink or two!) and Breton dancing.
LOCAL AREA
About 6km from Mohon is the lively village TrinitéPorhoet with a small local market every Tuesday evening. There are two bars, bank, post office and a pharmacy. If you fancy a bit of shopping there is also an Antiques shop.
Bicycles and kayaks can be hired in nearby Josselin where there is a lively mix of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. The magnificent chateau, still inhabited by the Rohan family, has guided tours in both French and English.
Every Saturday is market day in Josselin, the nearest town. Local fresh produce including, cheese, vegetables, shellfish and cold meats are on sale.
The Medieval garden in Josselin is just off the bustling town square. Here you can pick some herbs to take home!
A short drive from the accommodation takes you to the Domaine de Kerguéhennec. Here you will find an unusual sculpture park and chateau in magnificent grounds. There is a large lake and lots of woodland. There is a small café in the park and in the chateau there are often art exhibitions.
The walled city of Vannes is about a 50 minute drive. The harbourside restaurants in Vannes are always busy in the summer months. The local seafood, oysters and mussels being particularly popular.
There are many pretty Breton towns all with their own charms.
Nearby is the charming town of La Gacilly. During the summer months an outdoor photographic exhibition is held. Boat trips on the canal are available. The Yves Rocher factory, shop and Spa are situated here.
Rochefort-en-Terre, about 45 minutes away, was voted “prettiest village in France” in 2015. With its cobbled streets, plentiful restaurants and shops, it is a must on your holiday agenda!
'Musée de la Résistance de Bretagne'
The fascinating 'Musée de la Resistance is at St Marcel. It chronicles the vital role played by the people of Brittany at the time of the German Occupation during the second World War.
Close to St Marcel is the delightful market and canalside town of Malestroit.
The zoo at Pont Scorff is ideal for younger members of the family (about 1 hour away).
The Prehistoric Park at Malansac, about 45 minutes away, is another great day out for the youngsters. There are 30 scenes of reconstruction of the dinosaur age. The park is based on models and information from the Natural History Museum in Paris.
Nearby (1 hour drive) is the stunning medieval city of Rennes, capital of Brittany. There are numerous outdoor cafés and restaurants in the picturesque square plus shops so perfect if you want some retail therapy!
