Southern Comfort Farmhouse is located 6 miles from DeSoto State Park and 6.8 miles from Little River Falls at Little River Canyon National Preserve! Built in the early 1900s, this rustic farmhouse offers a peaceful retreat in a rural neighborhood setting of Fort Payne - centrally located between state parks and the national preserve – and minutes away from unique shopping and dining as well as museums, parks and antique malls. You can explore all of the beautiful waterfalls, forests, wildlife, and native plants offered by Lookout Mountain in Alabama!

Explore waterfalls, parks, shops, and restaurants - relax by the fireplace with a cup of coffee and enjoy beautiful views. Deer and turkeys are spotted in this area! The retreat property owner even has plans to develop future walking trails throughout the property. Renew, refresh, and be restored!

Southern Comfort Farmhouse is full of rustic charm. It is an adorable farmhouse that has been restored by the retreat property owner for her own family and guests :) Its own gravel driveway allows you to drive right by a large pecan tree, to the graveled parking area beside Southern Comfort Farmhouse. Beside the parking area, you can enter the home through the laundry area, or you can walk around to the left and enter through the main door on the front porch.

When you enter Southern Comfort Farmhouse, you will know your peaceful retreat has begun as you are surrounded by hand-milled, aged, tongue-and-groove wooden boards. Don’t forget to notice the original carpentry work in the wood ceilings. From every window of this one-level home, there are refreshing views through the large front, back and side yards.

A primary bedroom boasts window views into the side yard and back yard. A 32” Roku TV is mounted in the corner (with an antenna that has local channels), and Wi-Fi is available for streaming your favorite subscriptions. For the bed, there is a 10" queen memory foam mattress and new, quilted bedding for your rest and relaxation. Bedside lamps have USB chargers. Extra blankets and quilts can be found in the upper cabinet.

In the hallway, there is a beautiful bathroom with a separate hand-washing station. There you’ll find a beautiful sink and faucet with all of the charm one might expect while staying in farmhouse. Through the sliding barn door, made by the retreat property owner, you’ll find a relaxing rain shower in the corner and a large Jacuzzi tub for soaking those tired muscles after a long hike on one of Lookout Mountain’s many trails.

Next to the bathroom, there is a second bedroom. For the bed, there is a 10" queen memory foam mattress and new, quilted bedding for your rest and relaxation. Bedside lamps have USB chargers. An extra blanket, vacuum, portable baby crib and box fan can be found in the closet.

Moving into the main living area, you will appreciate the sight of comfortable seating for 6 guests. A 55” Roku TV is mounted over the stone fireplace for streaming movie nights after a day of adventures at the mountain :). There is a large comfy sofa that can be made into a queen bed if needed, a loveseat and a side chair. There is plenty of room for your family to enjoy this space. There are board games, puzzles, books, and reading information about Lookout Mountain in Alabama. In the large chest, there is a “sofa bed kit” - with bedding for guests 5 and 6 if required. Wi-Fi is available, and two lamps have USB chargers.

Directly next to the living room area is the dining area with a farmhouse table and comfortable seating for up to six. Two additional dining chairs are kept in the dining area.

As a bonus southern comfort, our retreat guests love the hot tea, hot chocolate and coffee and tea station – complete with coffee mugs, a 12-cup drip coffee maker and an electric hot water kettle :)

Next to the coffee and tea station is the full kitchen, complete with a refrigerator, electric stove, dishwasher, crock pot, toaster, microwave, blender, cooking pots, can opener, pans and utensils, dishes, drinking glasses, eating utensils, cooking spices, and more. The retreat property owner loves to cook for her family, and she has equipped the kitchen to ensure that you can do the same for your family while vacationing at Southern Comfort Farmhouse :)

Next to the kitchen, there is a separate laundry room with a washer, dryer, and electric steamer for your convenience. The washer has a Pure Wash system by GreenTech! In the laundry area by the back door, the owner has BBQ tools for the charcoal grill and extendable roasters for S’mores fun at the fire pit :)

Close to the farmhouse in the backyard, you will notice a repurposed charcoal BBQ grill, a picnic table and a rock fire pit designed with your retreat in mind. Feel free to take some chopped firewood (near the fire pit) as needed so that your family can make s’more memories. “Rim of the Canyon Café and General Store” is less than 6 miles from the property and has s’more supplies and lots of other goodies for your retreat! Also, good ole’ Dollar General is less than 3 miles away ;)
