You are visiting a new listing (February 2018) for a property which has earned 68 (!) 5* (five star) reviews under a different host on HomeAway since 2015. For 3 subsequent years the property owner, Marianne, has been the physical host, welcoming all visitors, assisting and trying to turn their stay into a warm, comfortable and memorable experience. The privately owned building with 4 apartments and the owner’s home, built in 2005, offers visitors a cordial atmosphere as well as full privacy. The building is continuously being improved at the owner’s attentiveness. Kindly note, that in case of no vacancy or need of an even larger accommodation, guests are kindly asked to also visit another apartment of equal amenities and two much larger ones, in the same building.

One of a kind: For visitors who seek a unique setting apart from an amazing view to the Acropolis. On top of a 7 floor building, probably in the most attractive section of the historical centre of Athens, the area of Thission, this apartment has no equivalent.
The light, the view from glass hutches, the small sizes, the low ceilings, the unique internal layout, the simplicity, the feeling of isolation from the city but still being its observer, characterize the space.
Imagine: a tiny loft apartment surrounded by large glass windows offering a 360° view to the whole of Athens, the mountains that surround it, the Saronic gulf, the imposing Acropolis, the Mount Lycabettus and the beautiful Observatory of Athens.
Imagine having all of this beauty with a marvelous swimming pool just beneath your fingertips, at the building’s green roof top terrace.
Imagine its freshness and serenity after a day in the bustling city which you’d visit on foot through lovely pedestrian streets that surround the neighborhood. Imagine your host as your discreet ally to your stay simply because Marianne likes to welcome her guests and feels rewarded to see them leave with a happy smile and a sense of relaxation.
The setting: You enter the apartment through a round staircase which leads to the bedroom and a king size bed. The view of the Acropolis right in front will probably be the only obstacle to your falling asleep... A door connects the bedroom to a glass corridor which links to an outdoor like bathroom with a rain type shower head and a view to the south part of the city of Athens. Showers are definitely unforgettable. The minuscule WC is separate and, mind you, has also got a direct view to the Acropolis.
Three small steps lead you down to the living room and small kitchen which provides the essential for a simple meal. A different exit door guides you to an outdoor staircase and the green roof top terrace with the swimming pool which is shared with a few select guests from two more A.U.R.A. apartments, where you’ll be enjoying the warm summer sun and beautiful evenings under the Athenian sky.
Marianne the building’s owner and host, welcomes visitors herself to ensure each and every guest receives the tips which turn a visit into an experience and a plain check in, far beyond the provision of accurate information, into a hospitable welcome. During the stay further assistance may be granted or just the most fulfilling warm smiles at the end of each stay. Aren’t smiles anyway the most treasured memory after a travel?
The apartment's location is most probably the best in Athens. The neighborhood is Thission, a residential area, the most appealing of all for visitors as much as for Athenians, in the heart of the historic centre. It combines the characteristics of the mid 19th century through the neoclassical residencies which are being continuously preserved, with the proximity to the most important archaeological sites through pedestrian streets and some of the most beautiful walks in any European capital, as well as the ultra-hip surrounding areas to eat, shop and walk around. A large choice of cafes, traditional taverns and restaurants as well as local shops offer visitors the option to spend time in the neighborhood if they please and acquire the inside knowledge of Athens! The apartment’s location is real close to the major attractions but outside the touristy mass or city noise so even the owner is still often taken by surprise from the calm it offers.
Other things to note
Parking is available on the premises, upon request, free of charge. A car would eventually be needed just for day excursions out of Athens. Security doors and main entrance code offer peace of mind to guests who may feel insecure while traveling. Quiet hours prevail in Greece also in the middle of the day which all visitors are kindly requested to respect. The pool is covered and heated during the winter season following the owner’s monitoring of weather reports. Bath towels are provided, pool towels are NOT provided. The entire building, highly innovative for Athenian standards, relies on geothermal and solar energy in order to guarantee an absolute heating and cooling effect through an under floor system (for longer term rentals) and fan coils, hot running water as well as swimming pool heating. Re-cycling is realized through special bins at the ground floor of premises. Visitors are encouraged to support environment friendly actions. Finally, the A.U.R.A. Quirky Apartment 2 is literally 10 minutes’ walk from the Acropolis, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus which participates in the Athens & Epidaurus Festival during the summer season, 15 min walk from the Acropolis museum and picturesque Plaka, through lovely pedestrian streets. The Athens Riviera is also just 9.0 km away and the most attractive neighborhoods are found all around the neighborhood of Thission. At last a number of services are available upon request, including personal, yoga trainer and physiotherapist’s / homeopathy treatments, as well as airport or any other transfer in or out of Athens.
