"The Last Best Place" - this popular Montana expression seems like it was tailor-made for this beautiful and peaceful log home in the breathtaking Six Mile Valley.
Colt's Creek Cabin sits on 11 acres bordering Six Mile Creek. This recently renovated rustic-modern log home is located just 25 minutes from downtown Missoula. The property features excellent views and the tranquil sounds of the creek. The deck is an amazing place to have your morning coffee and watch the gorgeous Montana sunsets.
This clean, cozy, and comfortable home has plenty of room for quality time with loved ones, while offering tons of space for alone time or quiet reflection. The open floor plan includes a gourmet kitchen with a peninsula and an island for breakfast seating, a formal dining area, and comfortable living room with large flat screen TV and sound system. The large picture windows and sliding glass door provide tons of natural light while allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful views and tranquility from the comfort of the couch. The cabin provides the warmth and coziness of a country home, while maintaining all the wonderful creature comforts we all enjoy: WiFi, DirecTV, streaming, and limited cell service. The local landline also provides unlimited local and long distance phone calls.
More of an outdoor person? The expansive deck provides a peaceful backdrop to enjoy your morning coffee as you kick up your feet and listen to the relaxing sounds of Six Mile Creek, which is just a short walk through the back pasture. Elk and deer are frequent visitors to the property and can often be spotted grazing or prancing through the pastures. Other wild animals, such as bald eagles, are also not an uncommon sight. Horses are pastured on the property for most of the year, which gives the property that authentic ranch feel.
The cabin has two main levels and a spacious loft for some extra accommodations. The main level has 2 bedrooms (both with a queen size bed) and 2 bathrooms. The loft, which can also be used as an office space, has a day bed that converts into a large bed (just shy of a king size bed). The daylight basement has another two rooms, each with a queen size bed as well as 1 bathroom. Both levels have their own propane furnace/fireplace that keep the cabin warm and toasty on those colder nights and each bedroom has a baseboard heater or space heater for some more personalized heating. Each bathroom has radiant floor heating for a spa-like experience.
New improvements worth noting:
The internet at the cabin was recently upgraded to the high-speed satellite Internet through Starlink (fastest internet available in the area), which is the new offering from Elon Musk’s SpaceX. Since this service is still in beta, download speeds will vary from 50mbps - 150mbps on average. There may also be brief periods of no connectivity at all. The drops in connectivity typically do not last for more than 10-15 minutes. Although this upgrade was a massive improvement, it will not perform like a fiber optics connection or a cable connection that most people are accustomed to. It has limited speeds and will experience latency if too many devices are connected.
A brand new fireplace was installed downstairs to go along with the newly decorated, cozy family room.
A brand new mini-split Heating and A/C system was installed in the common area and one of the bedrooms upstairs for more rapid heating and cooling.
This perfect location serves as a wonderful home-base for recreational activities or a serene retreat. The property is surrounded by many opportunities for recreation, including fishing, floating, hiking, skiing, swimming, and all the things that make Montana such a special place.
Despite being fairly close to Missoula, this is still a rural area and has its limitations. Please keep that in mind when booking.
Cabin safety features:
There is a SimpliSafe alarm at the cabin. It will be remotely disarmed before your check-in and remotely armed after my cleaning crew cleans upon your checkout. The alarm does chime when you open any of the exterior doors, but this feature is only a notification of an exterior door opening.
There are also 6 exterior cameras only used for home security when the cabin is vacant. Please rest assured that none of the cameras are monitored at all during a guest’s stay. There are absolutely no interior cameras. Locations of the cameras:
- Video doorbell at the front door
- 1 camera at the driveway area on the left corner of the house
- 1 camera pointing towards the front deck area
- 2 cameras on the side deck (1 pointing at the patio door and 1 pointing at the back pasture)
- 1 camera at the back door pointing towards the grill and barn
