House Rules (must meet these to book): Sleeps 6 (including all children), Saturday- Saturday only during the summer (last week of June - start of Sept), Lead guest must be 30+ years old. Maximum of 2 well-trained pets are welcome. No parties allowed. No smoking allowed. A supplemental information form must be completed.
Enjoy the Realm of the River - a 2.5 acre serene 4 season river front cottage. It has breathtaking views of the lush green natural habitat along the South River which merges into the famous Lake Nipissing.
Hike, fish, swim, Boat, Kayak or canoe! You may wish to rent/purchase equipment locally or bring your own. A public boat launch is only a 5 minute walk.
The property boasts of a private dock, firepit with Muskoka chairs, fully equipped BBQ grill, coffee bar, calm and peaceful private surroundings and family-friendly activities. Whether you are someone that enjoys to relax indoors cozying up to the fire or getting outside and exploring nature - this cottage has everything to offer.
The private shoreline offers a perfect shallow entry before the water begins to get deep. Makes it ideal for a variety of both summer and winter activities. The river is famous for fishing and a short waterway to the vast Nipissing lake offers plenty of great spots to drop a line.
Fall leaves are gorgeous and hiking the nearby trails is a great way to enjoy the fall colors. In the winter, endless snow mobile trails and ice fishing are a popular pastime. Ice huts can be rented nearby. Snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross country skiing are all common activities in the area.
Unwind after a long fun-filled day by watching your favorite show or cast anything via Apple TV with the Wi-Fi. And "working from home" really means "working from not-the-office", so you might even consider bringing the laptop and work from here for a change of scenery.
The kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances, coffee maker, toaster, dish washer, cookware, etc. A dining table and the breakfast bar give you ample place to dine in. 2 full size bedrooms are well appointed with comfortable beds & linen, 4 Piece bathroom and an ensuite laundry with detergents to keep you fresh throughout your stay.
Out and about, Footes convenience store that is less than a 5 min drive. In addition to basic grocery supplies it has a Gas Station, LCBO, Beer Store and a chip trailer (in our opinion the essential feature of any self-respecting cottage country convenience store). A little further afield, the town of Powassan (15 minutes) offers a fuller set of amenities, such as a full grocery store, a couple of restaurants, a post office, drug store and other shops. If you are really missing city life for some reason, North Bay is just a half hour away and has everything you would expect in a city.

Close-By Attractions
South Bay Provincial Park. This park has many interesting geological features, and is available for swimming, fishing, boating, and hiking. (20 mins)
Restoule Provincial Park. Paddling alongside ancient cedars at the cliff base of the 100 meter high Stormy Lake Bluff. Hiking the Fire Tower Trail for an amazing view of Stormy Lake. Mountain biking on over 8kms of double and single track trails with a large range in difficulty.(35 mins)
Golfing. Several golf courses are within half an hour of the cottage - Highview Golf Course, Clear Springs Golf Course, Pinewood Park Golf Course, and Osprey Links Golf Course. The North Bay Golf and Country Club is just 40 minutes away, and for family fun, King Cone and King Putt mini golf is 35 minutes away.
Winter Activities. Ice fishing is available, and the cottage is near South Shore/Restoule snowmobiling trails, and the Wasi Cross Country Ski Club (20 minutes), with 43 km of ski trails and 8 km of snowshoeing trails. Laurentian Ski Hill is 40 minutes from the cottage.
Heritage Railway and Carousel Company - North Bay. Ride the beautiful carousels and miniature railway at North Bay's Waterfront. (35 mins)
