Our home comes fully equipped with games, books, sheets, towels, dining table (seats 4), couch & TV (Netflix, Disney+, Prime) available on demand, high speed internet, full bathroom with a claw tub bath & shower, and a king size bed and wood fire. The cabin also has electric heating - but for ambiance the wood fire makes for a special treat. We supply all cleaning supplies (if needed during your stay - we have a professional cleaner so no need to clean post stay), shower & bathroom products, extra toothbrushes, razors, and feminine products if anything is forgotten!
Our home sits on 1 acre of land, with 32 acres of parkland co-owned in behind, we have games, books galore & tasty restaurants and coffee shops to check out. The beaches on Pender are magical & the community one of the best. Our home is located on South Pender Island - so very quiet and remote - but with amenities to ensure a comfortable stay.
The main home has a pretty neat story to it - it is a 1920's Sears Kit Home which was previously located on Cordova Bay Road - and was moved in 2004 when they decided to tear down and rebuild - the original address is listed above the door, the home is open concept with a dining area for four, a kitchen - stove/oven, fridge/freezer, toaster, crockpot, kettle, endless teas and all the basics for cooking - if you see anything you'd like to use feel free.
The grocery store on Pender Island is located at the Driftwood Centre has a wide selection of foods, groceries, meats and pre-cooked meals - it is open Monday to Sunday if you need anything. There is also a BC Liquor Store, Cannabis Shop, Bookshop, Coffee Shop & Bakery, and a few restaurants. On South Pender there is the Poets Cove Resort (3-5 min drive from our place or 25-minute walk through the enchanted forest) which has a pub style restaurant on location.
There are many hiking trails, walks, beaches, and spots to explore - some of my favourites include Medicine Beach (with a much-needed stop at the Slow Coast Coffee next door) where coffee & snacks are great and the Truss Food Shop. There is also a liquor store/convenience store located at Medicine Beach - if you forget any necessities.
Mount Norman is gorgeous - a bit of a steep but short climb up to a magnificent view well worth the drive and 5 minutes from ours to the trail head, you can also hike up to the dog bowls from ours on the Castle Road Trail Head, beautiful walk and stunning views, also at the end of our private road is the Original Spalding Homestead - neat to see and if you walk down the trail to Spalding and follow it down towards the water you will end up in the Enchanted Forest filled with fairy doors, and waterfalls - which leads you to a point with Arbutus Trees and a beautiful bench, further down South Pender if you drive right to the end is Brooks Point, if you park, walk down the beach and up to the lighthouse and just keep walking - you won't be disappointed.
We haven't done the Roe Lake Hike yet by the firehall but have heard great things, there are many beach access points to stop and walk down along the island, hikes around the North Island, Magic Lake & once you have crossed the bridge to South Pender Ainslie Point to your right is stunning and if you take the first left heading to the Gnome Home down to Mortimer Spit - at low tide it makes a great spot for a picnic or seal watching
There are many restaurants to visit including Browning Bay Marina, Poets Cove, Jo's Place, The Woods, The Hub - make sure to call to make a Reso (live music, jazz, art and more) worth the drive down to take a look for the stunning views, Pender Island Chocolates (coffee & chocolates by the hub) fantastic and locally made.
