This home is the oldest geodesic dome in Minnesota, located in Center City, the state’s oldest and continuously inhabited Swedish settlement. Swedish immigrants travelled here during the 1850s directly from Ellis Island, the United States’ busiest immigration station located in New York Harbor, where the Statue of Liberty now stands. A photograph of the large Lutheran church constructed in 1882, (standing at the turn onto North Main Street) is displayed within the halls of the Statue of Liberty to commemorate these early settlers.
This home was constructed in 1964 by Rollie Westman, a native of the community. As well as being recognized as a professional water skier, expert snow skier, and northern wilderness explorer, he remains a locally recognized personality and creative craftsman. The home’s foundations are two grain silos constructed out of banded concrete blocks, and he constructed the geodesic dome, above the silo that now provides the main communal living space. The circular platform covers the swimming pool that he first placed there, converting it later into the sauna room you see today. His memoir of the extensive paddling trips he undertook during the late 1960s, from Lake Winnipeg to Hudson Bay, is titled The Gods, Churchill, and Yukon by Canoe and is on the bookshelf in the master bedroom.
Square Bed - Round House is located along a narrow isthmus with lakefront on both Center Lake and Pioneer Lake! At over 3,200 square feet it's perfect large groups and multiple families.
This home is only available as a vacation rental for a limited time.
North Center Lake is a fully recreational lake (with a public boat launch) that also accesses South Center Lake. Tubing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, fishing (walleye, crappie, bass, sunfish, etc) are all excellent activities. The Fourth of July is typically a busy day for boats, but not congested to the point of not being able to do what you want. Outside of the actual day of the holiday, traffic on the two lakes is actually pretty quiet. There is, however, a lake resident with a float plane, so at times it will be taking off or landing just across the water from the house.

• All guests must be over the age of 25 unless part of a family unit. Verification may be required.
• All check-ins are 'self' and contactless! To provide this service, we require a selfie of you holding your ID to verify your identity prior to check-in (photo will be emailed or texted to reservations dept).
• Bookings made within 7 days of arrival will require additional documentation.
• Our Rental Agreement must be signed prior to arrival. This will require your email address.
• No smoking inside of the home.
• NO EVENTS - This home is designed for families and responsible adults. Restrictions include, but are not limited to: Weddings and wedding celebrations, Bachelorette/bachelor gatherings, and reunions.
• Pets allowed with approval; pet fee required.
• Please respect the home and clean up after yourself!
• Quiet Hours – 10PM-7AM. We love our neighbors!! Please be respectful of the permanent residents on either side of this property.
• Direct Bookings or other online booking sources may be subject to a 3% cancellation fee
• This short term rental is located within Chisago County. The ordinance 151.05.64 outlines specific requirements and restrictions including occupancy, parking, guest record, guest disclosure, and other restrictions.
Deviation from these rules can result in an eviction from the premises with no refund, as stated in the signed rental agreement.
