This luxurious beachfront compound is located directly on the pristine, pink-sand French Leave Beach, which has been ranked among the top 20 beaches of the world. The property is part of the distinguished Governor's Harbour Collection, a select group of the top tier rentals in central Eleuthera.
Lush Life is arguably the best house on the best beach, in the best town, on all of Eleuthera. It is the most popular vacation rental on the island and is an ideal property for multiple families, reunions, and small weddings.
There are just a few other houses on this mile-long beach. Lush Life was the setting for the 2010 Tyler Perry/Janet Jackson film, ''Why Did I Get Married Too'', which was shot on location in the house and on its beach, pool, and grounds. Lush Life has a total of four structures with 9 bedrooms, 11 baths, 4 kitchens, beautifully landscaped grounds, and a large heated pool. Housekeeping service is included mid-week, and there is a full-time, on-site caretaker. Other staff including a selection of cooks and chefs are available upon request.
The proximity of the compound to the water, accentuated by multiple seating areas on and almost on the beach, as well as a new, large “Sky Box” built over a dune, offer unparalleled opportunities to drink in the beauty of one of the most stunning beaches in the world.
Situated in the prestigious Banks Road, where Governors Harbour’s great estates are located, Lush Life is less than a mile from Tippy's famous beachfront restaurant and bar, Bacchus Fine Food, Buccaneer Club and Restaurant, Da Perk, 1648 restaurant at French Leave Resort, and the 360-year-old town of Governor’s Harbour.
The Main House and Cottages at Lush Life were exquisitely designed, and built to the most exacting modern standards of workmanship. They feature Brazilian hardwood floors, cypress cedar ceilings, custom tile, high efficiency ductless air conditioning systems, and décor by one of the Bahamas' premier interior designers.
Lush Life is rented to only one group at a time. The estate consists of the following structures:
The Main House: This magnificent Bahamian Colonial mansion has 4 king bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, and sleeps 8. The large great room, hall, formal dining room, and expansive veranda look directly out upon French Leave Beach, one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean. The extraordinary kitchen would satisfy any master chef, and is designed to handle the largest dinner parties. It is equipped with two large refrigerators, giant freezer, gas range, and more. There is also an outside kitchen area with a propane BBQ grill and extra-large Green Egg.
The Guest Cottage: This 2-bedroom cottage overlooks the pool and has ocean views. It has a full kitchen and 2.5 bathrooms, and is connected to the Bunk Room and Studio Apartment. It contains a full size washer and dryer in the half bathroom.
The Bunk Room: This structure, connected to the Guest Cottage on one side and the Studio Apartment on the other, consists of a large bedroom and private bathroom. The bedroom is furnished with 3 bunk beds and 3 trundle beds, sleeping up to 9 children.
The Studio Apartment: This cozy cottage with views across the pool at the beach and ocean, is linked to the Bunk Room. It has a large living/bedroom area with a four-poster bed, a kitchenette, and a private bathroom.
The Pool Cabana: This bright one-bedroom cottage is on the beach and beside the pool. It has a king bedroom, a large living room, and a full kitchen and bathroom, complete with a washer/dryer combo.
Lush Life comes with everything you need to enjoy your stay on Eleuthera including high efficiency AC throughout the properties, flat-screen satellite TVs, high-speed internet with WIFI, and backup generator. Outdoor amenities include a heated pool, gas grill, kayaks, paddleboards, and an outdoor ping pong table. This residence is continuously upgraded and maintained to the very highest standards of island estate living.
Lush Life is located directly on French Leave Beach, an idyllic, mile-long, pink-sand beach with only half a dozen houses on its entire length. The surf is very mild, protected by a large reef system that parallels the shore. The water is among the clearest in the world. Just offshore from Lush Life is an excellent reef for snorkeling, inhabited by many colorful reef fishes.
The town of Governors Harbour, a mile away, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, a bank with ATM services, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing, is not to be missed.
Weddings and large celebrations must be approved, in advance, with the property manager/owner. Venue rental fee is in addition to rental cost.
Each additional guest beyond the quantity of 12 (up to 25 total) is $70 per person, per night, with the exception of children under the age of 2.

Summary: This was my 4th time staying on Eleuthera and by far the best trip we’ve had, largely due to this property. We had a large group, 17 staying at Lush Life and another 10 staying at a property nearby. The house was immaculate upon arrival and we had several of those “better than the pictures moments” across the group when we walked in. It’s obvious the owners take exceptional care of the property. There was more than enough space for kids and adults to spread out, and despite being one of the best beaches on the island, we basically had the entire stretch of sand to ourselves all week. Because of the small island nearby, the beach area offered protection from the current and wind so that our children could swim and snorkel safely, and we actually found that the reef structures surrounding the island were teeming with life. Dominic and Joy were true professionals and highly responsive each time we had a question. In short, if you are looking for a premier property on Eleuthera, look no further.
