Come home for the holidays. Lovely classic New England home. Large rooms for entertaining, 2 fireplaces, Just lovely. Special place to gather the ones you love.
The house is located on the New Canaan border in the Silvermine art district. Great weekend/summer house, or refuge for your family and pup while remodeling or looking for a new home. We are very flexible, and can work with you if a remodel takes a bit of extra time.
Lots of light, large rooms on main level including a living room, library/sun room, tea lounge/music room with piano, library, large eat-in kitchen, dining room, private den/office and media/guest bedroom. There's even a Steinway in the library ready to play. Dates very flexible.
It's a refuge for sure, but with multiple offices to work. We have 3 distinct office spaces, two with closing doors, high-speed internet, extra monitors, printer, smart TVs for comfortable and private remote work. The downstairs office has its own full bathroom with a separate entrance. With its comfy sofa bed it doubles as an 5th bedroom in-law suite, au pair/mother-in-law space or professional office to receive clients. There is also an office in the library, and one in the upstairs loft.
There is a cool loft/gym, complete with Pelaton cycle, yoga mats, smart TV, weights, and resistance bands. It overlooks the lovely backyard with its roses, flowers, sparkling pool, tennis court and more so you can work out in a bright, lovely space. There is a desk/office space tucked into the corner for those who want to take their work to the second floor to be near resting children or even spouses!
Outdoor entertaining includes a tiki-hut, deck, pool and pool-side terrace, private side terrace with firepit and so much more. Lots of outdoor games like tennis/pickleball, basketball hoop, croquet, can jam and corn hole.
This is a perfect home for entertaining with new kitchen, lovely new en-suite master bathroom and room for family and friends to stay or just visit while you are here. There are also 2 pianos (one a Steinway, one a Roland electric), guitars ranging from electric to acoustic to kid size with a tea room for playing music.
5 minutes from the lux boutiques, farmers market and great shopping in New Canaan. 10 minutes from Westport, Rowayton or Darien. 10 minutes from beaches or Metro North/Amtrak trains to NYC, DC and Boston, 30 minutes from the Westchester airport. Easy access to both I95 and the Merritt Parkways make this location ultra-convenient if you need to travel for fun or business.
For the discerning foodie there is Graybarns Inn, the jewel of Silvermine, just around the corner, an easy walk. With its world-class dining and a happening bar scene, Graybarns, the former Silvermine Tavern, attracts people from all over the world. There are more highly ranked restaurants just down the street in Broad River, including Little Tokyo, a top rated sushi restaurant. There's Liz Sue's bagels (freshest bagels and lox) and Uncle Joes (pizza and amazing Greek food), Jamaican and Mexican (amazing guac), Indian and Italian, and the incomparable A&S deli for meats, cheeses and all things Tuscan, all within 2 minutes drive. There's even a decent massage place and Banana Nails for a great mani-pedi.
The acclaimed SONO Collection Mall, restaurants of all kinds, nightlife, movies, train station and more are 7 minutes away in South Norwalk. Sono Seafood has a deck right on the water and serves famous NE lobster rolls, delicious seafood and chowder. After lunch at Sono check out the Maritime Center Aquarium where kids can touch aquatic life and take a research ship out into the Long Island Sound or to check out Sheffield Light House.
Downtown Westport is close by with its fabulous restaurants, boutiques and movies. The amphitheater there offers summer concerts. Westport is always hopping!
There are great side streets full of New England charm to bike along in Silvermine. On your route, get a cup of coffee, breakfast or lunch at the Silvermine Market, stop in at the Silvermine Art Center, go anywhere or just stay home.
The Long Island Sound, Calf Pasture Beach and all of the fun that goes with a beach vacation is around the corner. Calf Pasture Beach offers a terrific dog park where your friendly dog can run and play with others and splash in the salt water pond with his/her friends. For more a trail experience there is Cranbury Park nearby with a wonderful off-leash area and trails throughout a former estate.
