Welcome to Loire Lodge, a Rustic Barn Conversion nestled within the tranquil Mayenne village of Sainte-Marie-du-Bois.

The property, that we believe to date from c.1700s boasts many original features including exposed beams and original ironworks.

This pet friendly property is the perfect place to escape for a family holiday or a romantic getaway.

Loire Lodge is located around 5km from Lassay-les-Chateaux, frequently voted as one of the most beautiful villages in Northern France.
The space
As you enter the property through the double door entrance way, you are greeted by a bright and airy double hight entrance way.
To the left of the entrance you will find our well appointed kitchen will all you need for a self-catering holiday, including, cutlery, crockery, glassware and cook-ware, as well as an oven, fridge, toaster, microwave and small air fryer.
Behind the kitchen you will find the dining area, complete with a vintage six seater table perfect for a meal or a family board game, off this area you will find the utility which houses the freezer, washing machine and water heater.
Looking to the right of the entrance you find our cozy lounge and TV area, complete with a 50" SMART TV with access to both English as well as both French and English Netflix and Amazon Prime Video (subject use of your own account).

Walking up the staircase, you will find your self on the bright mezzanine from which all the bedrooms can be accessed.
On the upper floor you will find three bedrooms that can comfortably sleep six people. The master bedroom located at the front of the property houses the large SUPERKING bed, a large wardrobe and a dressing table as well as a 32” SMART TV. This room benefits from an ensuite shower room with a jet shower toilet and sink. This room also boasts views across the garden to the stunning church Église Notre-Dame de l’Assomption.
Opposite this room you find the second bedroom comprising of a double bed, wardrobe and a 32" SMART TV. This room also boasts views over the garden and the local church.
To the rear of the second bedroom you find the third and final bedroom. This cosy room is bright and airy with a clothes rail and a 32" SMART TV.
Also on the upper floor, you fill find the family bathroom that houses a shower, toilet and sink.

To the outside of the property you will find our large gated garden in which your pets can exercise. Located to the right of the front door you will find our decking area where you can enjoy a barbecue and take-in the summer sun.
To the left of the front door you will find the outdoor storage area which you can use to store your bicycles.

We hope that you choose to stay with us, and know that if you do, you will love this house as much as we have since acquiring it and thoroughly updating it since 2020.

From March 2024 we hope to have both French and English television available subject to your preference.
Guest access
Guests will have full access to all parts of the house, there are two locked cupboards in the property that are used to store our personal effects and linen.

Outside you will have access to all areas of the garden including the bike storage facility to the left of the front door. The decking is available for the guests to use but the summerhouse is currently off limits and used only for storage.
Other things to note
Sainte-Marie-du-Bois is located in the Mayenne region of the Pays-de-la-Loire around 5km from the medieval town of Lassay-les-Chateaux.

In the surrounding area there are many walks and bike rides that can be enjoyed, you also benefit from being around a 20 minute drive from the man made beach at La Ferté Macé.

Other places to visit in the local area include the towns of Bahnoles de l'Orne, Domfront and Laval.

Loire Lodge is located 30 minutes from the Chateau made famous be Channel 4s Escape to the Château, Chateau-de-la-Motte Husson.

Towards the top of the garden, nearest the Church, you may find the garden to be weedy. We have made the decision to allow weeds and wild flowers to grow in this area to protect the local insect population, in particular the bees as they are vital to the local farming community.

The property is located near the village church so you may hear church bells periodically throughout the day (as is normal in all villages in the area)
