In the municipality of Albi, "La Fonvialane" is a carrier of the singular local history of this "end of the city". The main house was built in 1887 by a family of peasants who descended in carts from the small village of Mailhoc located 10km away on the plateau Cordais, for years!, the white stones which today compose it. Successively farmers of flax fields along the Tarn, tobacco producers until the late 1970s and market gardeners, the vineyard was also present at the back of the estate ...
All these activities of the earth give to "La Fonvialane", its identity and its atmosphere by the numerous testimonies of this history still present: a pigeonnier Tarnais (of type "foot of mullet, with two opposite slopes and staggered with a 'col de coats', wooden flight grid and brick hike "- we are starting its restoration!), well, an imposing tobacco barn (one of the 1500 dryers of the famous brothers Chaverou de Bergerac scattered from 1952 in about fifty French departments ...), wine cellar, pleasure garden .. which have designed its landscape and its peaceful atmosphere.
At the back of the vast building in white stone occupied by the owners, stone and brick fairgrounds, exposed beams, garden (partly private) and shared pool will be your immediate environment, ideal for a stay between couples or family, while enjoying a large panoramic terrace with views including the former tobacco barn now used as a stable with 2 ponies greeted by the owners.
THE GITE "La Fonvialane" (furnished with tourism ***), of approximately 100m ² entirely renovated in 2017, is an apartment which has an independent access at the back of the building occupied by the owners. The cottage is ideally located on the road to Cordes (20km), 5 minutes from the Albi ring road (A68 to Toulouse), the gateway to the millennial vineyard of Gaillac, the Tarn countryside and its remarkable bastides.
It is also located a few minutes by car or bike (3 km) from the Episcopal City of Albi, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum (equally exceptional and unique!), close to all shops, and 900m from the aquatic center and playful Atlantis.
You will be able to practice diversified tourism, heritage and cultural, sports and relaxation, natural and local by sharing the gastronomic and wine specialties of the south-west.
The owners, who invested the premises in 2014, continue their renovations in the respect of the traditions, and develop a project of deposits which gives a new birth to "La Fonvialane". They will be eager to share with you their attachment to Albi and the Tarn, at the gates of the Toulouse metropolis.
The cottage *** of "La Fonvialane" WITH SWIMMING POOL common with the owners, is open all year (week, WE, midweek ...), for 2 nights minimum, and exclusively for the week from Saturday to Saturday in July and August.
THE ROOM OF LIFE WITH OPEN KITCHEN
Arriving upstairs, you access the main living room (36m²), very bright with its white stone walls, wooden beams and stairs, which offers a view of nature from a direct opening on the terrace and another view of the dovecote.
The open kitchen with its central island is equipped with a fridge / freezer, a double hob, an oven, a microwave, a dishwasher.
The living area has a dining table for 6 people.
The lounge area, with its sofa and armchairs, offers television, books and board games available. Free WIFI equipment.
Common areas of the cottage include:
- A vestibule-hallway with cupboard (integrating washing machine and necessary for the household), door coat, piece of furniture;
- independent toilet;
- An independent bathroom with a shower, a second toilet, a double sink with mirror.
(A cot for young children and a booster seat are available on request).
THE FIRST ROOM WITH PRIVATE BATHROOM
for 2 persons (18m²) has 1 double bed (140cm), a family bonnetière and an armchair. It also includes a small private bathroom with shower, sink and heated towel rail. (Ideal for parents!)
THE 2nd ROOM WITH DIRECT ACCESS TO THE TERRACE
for 2 people (13m²) has 1 double bed (140cm). Its floor tiles recall the old character of the building.
It incorporates an ice cabinet and an armchair complete the furniture of this bright room.
The second bathroom is located directly opposite.
THE 3rd ROOM MEZZANINE MANSARDEE
for 2 people (approx 18m²) has 2 single beds (90cm)
This mezzanine bedroom is accessed by the wooden staircase from the main living room.
This beautiful attic space includes storage shelves. The room is equipped with an air conditioner for the hottest nights, as needed.
Children enjoy this corner!
THE PRIVATE TERRACE IN WOOD of 36m ² oriented north / west (still partly shaded at lunchtime!), including a lounge area and a table for 6 people.
It offers a panoramic view of the nature and its diversity (you can see and hear many birds such black kites, swallows, barn owls - the night!, depending on the season ...), the tobacco barn, the dovecote, or this surprising weeping sophora from Japan more than a century old, ideal for a nap and shaded nap!
THE GROUND FLOOR OF SEVERAL HUNDREDS M² assigned to the cottage allows, feet in the grass or in the shade, to spend pleasant moments of conviviality and relaxation in the open air ... (barbecue available)
A SWIMMING POOL (8x4m for 140cm of depth) is accessible, common with the owners, as well as small facilities of leisure for children (trampoline, wooden hut, ...)
POSSIBLE SERVICES: Sheets, towels and end of stay cleaning. Private and shaded parking on site.
