A very warm welcome to our beautiful Grade 2 listed thatched home nestled in the heart of the stunning county of Dorset. Situated within an area of outstanding natural beauty, parts of the cottage date back approximately 500 years and it is beautifully positioned within a small, award winning village. Its location at the end of a no through lane further evokes memories of Thomas Hardy’s “Far from the madding crowd”. The village also boasts a shop, St Andrew’s Church which was consecrated on 1302 and the Royal Oak Pub.
Enjoy the whole carefully restored cottage which boasts 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and one cloak room. Additionally, a wonderful living room as well as dining room/garden room which offers access to the beautiful secluded cottage garden.
The home is generously proportioned, with a comfortable separate working space upstairs. It has mostly generously high ceiling heights for a cottage, and has the perfect combination of historic charm combined with modern facilities.
This combination makes Fippenny Cottage the perfect holiday home for those looking to unwind, take a deep breath and enjoy all that this location can offer. The cottage is nestled in an award winning, quintessential English village, as well as close to many attractions of Dorset and beyond. Right around the house there are many walks including beautifully preserved National Trust walks and there are sights of Hambledon Hill, a famous Iron age fortress boasting original Yew Tree Forest in close proximity.
Dorset is renowned for its country lanes, popular with cyclists, and there is also a trail way and a bike park for those of a more adventurous disposition.
Within approximately one hour’s drive from the cottage you can access the many beautiful, World Heritage recognised, beaches of the Jurassic Coast. Similarly, Stonehenge and the wonderful City of Bath. The New Forest National Park, one of King Henry V111’s favourite hunting venues, where ponies, donkeys and pigs are still able to roam freely is again less than an hour’s drive. Nearer to home are numerous beautiful villages and towns, such as Milton Abbas, Iwerne Minster, Cerne Abbas to name a few, with Sherborne with its wonderful Abbey and restaurants and pubs also highly recommended.
