This 2010 construction A-Frame is ideal for a couple or small family who want to enjoy Old Rag Mountain, Shenandoah National Park, Ducard Vineyard, White Oak Canyon Falls, locally famous Little Country Store BBQ, Graves Mountain Lodge, Virginia farm country and other local attractions or have otherwise need to visit this area.
A newer addition to the property is the corner yard patio that includes a hot tub and fire pit with breathtaking farmland and mountain views of Old Rag Mountain. We are adding a pergola to the patio.
We re-did the upstairs half bath to include a shower with natural rock and subway tile.
The view of Old Rag from the front porch rivals any view east of West Texas, guaranteed. Occasionally, sightings of a bald eagle and other wildlife are possible.
The upstairs is one open area with a full size sleep sofa (for 2) and a King that can be separated into 2 twins. 2 more sleep sofas are downstairs. One sleeps two, and the other sleeps one. Most of our guests are a couple or small family, but we have had groups of 6 max who have to be a bit creative on how they set up.
*We are trying our best to space out Guest bookings by at least 24hr apart for cleaning and disinfecting purposes. A maid will be cleaning within that 24hr time period. We disinfect surfaces and high touch areas using Lysol or ammonium chloride products. The white laundry bed linens and towels are disinfected with bleach and detergent.
Please plan to put your pets in a pet carrier. Old Rag Mountain is not a pet friendly hike due to the rock scramble towards the peak, but White Oak Canyon to the first waterfall is. Plan to walk your animals on a leash for their safety. *Please check online with the park beforehand for recommendations.
We have high speed WIFI, DishNetwork satellite TV, propane furnace, central air, well stocked kitchen namely pots, pans, dishes etc. Plan well with your food supplies as the nearest major supermarket is 13 miles away. Mad Pepper Cafe, Pig N’Steak, Off the Grid, Rappahannock Pizza Kitchen and *Bavarian Chef are good local restaurants. Michies Tavern near Monticello is a favorite restaurant. *The Little Country Store in Etlan is across the street with basic foods, best BBQ, special seafood events and our favorite local Yowell Farm burgers + local frozen beef. We have a gas BBQ grill. You can set your cellphone up to make calls over our WiFi by going to “settings” and please note that there is *no cell service in the general area.*
The property is on a 1.2 acre lot attached to the small village of Etlan. The eastern foot of Old Rag is just over a mile across the meadow. Ducard, Blue Quartz and Sharp Rock vineyards are 3 miles away, Graves Lodge 5 miles, White Oak Falls trail is 8 miles and Luray Caverns is 35 minutes.
We first listed in Feb 2016, and we have been pleasantly encouraged to have very steady bookings with increasing popularity.
