Gorgeous Kalapana has arguably, the best weather on the island -- sunny, dry, breezy! Located conveniently near Pahoa (15 min drive), as well as Uncle Robert's, Kehena Beach, Sundari Retreat Center, Pohoiki Hot Ponds, etc.; yet you will feel like you're in a different world here!
Here, we live with the elements -- you are surrounded by dramatic black lava fields and the ocean sparkles on the horizon! So in the daytime, you can swim with dolphins at the Black Sand Beach (10 minutes away, and the ONLY beach on the Puna side) and at night you can commune with the elements under a blanket of stars.
Our Sanctuary consists of this Lava House; the Magical Lava Temple; the Phoenix House; and the Ohana House. -- This listing is for the Main House Upstairs Loft only.
The Main House is a charming, rustic, two-story, off-the-grid, house.
It has electricity, hi-speed internet, hot shower, 2 bathrooms, flush toilets, simple kitchen, clean linens and towels, considerate hosts, etc. : )
You will have the Upstairs Loft to yourself -- it has a Master Bedroom with a King Size bed, surrounded by distant views of both the Sunrise over the Ocean, and then the Sunset over the Volcano.. There is also a small upstairs half-bathroom. 1-2 people can stay in the Upstairs Loft.
The Downstairs of the House has a simple kitchen, a bathroom with hot shower, and a small living room.
** We also have Quiet Hours from 9pm -8am.
Come rest & rejuvenate with your own personal retreat, and enjoy some of the wonderful sites and activities around here. Mermaid Ponds, Black Sand Beaches, Geothermal Warm Ponds, Tide Pools, Waterfalls, Live flowing Lava, Local Farmers' Markets, etc.
PeleMa has blessed us to be the Caretakers of this Sacred Sanctuary. We are joyous, kind, compassionate, considerate and respectful.

Then walk down the little path in front of you to reach the Two Story House with the green trim and green porch. That's the Main House.

The Main House Upstairs Loft has a King Bed and Half-Bathroom.
Eclectic, Epic, Off the beaten Path..
Feels Remote yet Super Close to Farmers' Markets, Black Sand Beaches, Sacred sights, etc.

Not really, better to have a car.
We do have several Cars available for rent, including a newish 4WD Truck.
** PLEASE NOTE:
We understand this place is not for everyone.
If you are wanting a touristy, resort / hotel experience, this is NOT it.
If you are wanting an elemental, off-grid, off-the-beaten-path and unique experience, then this is an amazing place to reconnect with yourself, your Soul, and Nature.
Also, we have priced it low, as it is somewhat rustic and not high end.
Also because the Downstairs Kitchen and Bathroom are lightly shared by 1-2 considerate caretakers who live in their own cabins nearby and longterm.
However, the Upstairs Loft is separate and private from the rest of the house. So please keep this in mind when you are booking it.
As we are off-grid, we do ask people to be conservative with power after dark (you can use and charge all your devices, just please don't leave lights on all night long, and only use the washing machine during daylight hours).
Also, you may see an occasional bug or gecko or 2.
Geckos are harmless, very cute, and are considered good omens actually.
Please make sure you are okay with all of this, before booking.
