"Eine Erfahrung in Zeit und Raum ..."Anlegesteg BATHURST | Haus in O'Connell

2 Schlafzimmer Haus in Central Tablelands, O'Connell
sometimes we are blessed with rare moments to consider our own place in the bigger scheme of things, moments of recreation and refreshment.
on a jetty you find yourself on the edge of one reality, suspended above another, contemplating a vastness of possibility beyond the present.
you take an enlivening dive into the unknown, or, having breathed a wider horizon, turn back to the familiar comfort, refreshed by insight and with a new vigour for life.
traditionally a jetty traverses earth and water… but the same phenomenon is experienced suspended between earth and sky.
highview jetty...
an experience in time and space.
________________________________________
WE HAVE RECENTLY UNDERTAKEN MAINTENANCE AND UPDATED THE DECOR of highVIEWjetty. In this process we have reconfigured some of the spaces to better suit travellers who might choose to “work from anywhere”. Now at highVIEWjetty, rather than clearing an end of the dining table, or balancing a laptop on the lounge, we have dedicated a room with a generous desk and comfortable chair and it’s own quiet views for relief without distraction. Set up your workspace just how you want it, and shut the door on it when its time for a break.
We no longer offer the familiar triple bunks and have reduced the sleeping capacity of the house, while upgrading the character of the spaces offered. We are now very well suited to a couple taking a break from the city but keeping in touch with work during a staycation - if you can work from anywhere, why not make it somewhere special!
The 2 luxury Queen Rms, one at each end of the pavilion, provide privacy for 2 couples away together, and we can add up to 2 very comfortable single beds for kids or added guests, in their own private spaces.
A total of up to 6 people (plus an infant) can enjoy their own special slice of luxury with comfy topped mattresses, full doonas and plush linen.
Feel free to contact us to discuss your particular circumstances.
Our pricing structure has changed to suit the new offering, and we suggest at least a 3 day stay to properly settle in, unpack and unwind, with the whole house at your disposal for 1 to 6 people, for a fixed rate (a modest extra charge may apply for us to make up the extra single beds).
Discounts may apply for longer bookings.

what our first visitor said:
"an amazing place to stay at. We arrived from Sydney (which is about a 2.5 hours drive) to the property at dusk and saw kangaroos on the land, which was a very nice touch given we were after getting away from the urban environment and settling in a nice spacious country retreat. The indoors fireplace was on when we entered, which we greatly appreciated given it was a cold Friday night. I have stayed at about 7 properties using [a web-based booking service] and this easily takes the cake, because of its high quality furnishings, visual appeal and the other touches that the owner has put into place (like providing for a very well stocked kitchen, indeed this place was like staying at a home away from home – everything imaginable is there). I am very grateful that the owner is able to share the property with others. The location is exceptional, being situated on a high elevation looking out to Chifley Dam. I wish I was able to share photos ... so that you all would know what views you’d be getting if you stay at the property. Bathurst is a mere 15 minute drive away, so we visited the Sunday markets and picked up some local wine and food from there to cook at the house. We also spent time wandering in the ‘backyard’, which is a nice slope that goes all the way down to a creek at the bottom of the property. The owner was always in communication, ensuring that we settled in nicely. I could have not asked for a better host. Obtaining the keys was completely hassle-free. Visually stunning, homely and high quality. I would not hestitate to recommend this property to others."

what is there to do in Bathurst?... absolutely nothing... if you're lucky... but you probably won't be able to resist the local offerings
We have made a place to just come and be, a place to share with friends, a retreat from the day to day. But since you're in the area you might want to explore something of what the region has to offer… perhaps we can discount a few extra nights!
Bathurst is Australia's oldest inland settlement. A drive through the countryside reveals substantial homesteads and historic infrastructure. The property is just off the original route of Government Surveyor Cox, as he mapped the first route to the colony's new food basket. Through agricultural boom and gold rush, a depth and breadth of culture has developed, leaving a heritage of artefact and a future of solid opportunity. 'The Local' O'Connell Pub is itself a relic from travellers on the Cobb and Co coach and Bathurst is full of significant colonial architecture (incl. 1000 heritage buildings) and examples of everything since.
And so there is much to see and do. Local food and wine is well worth exploring. Cellar doors dot the region - the closest just a five minute drive (phone our friends Mark or Sam at Renzaglia to book a tasting, or venture across to Vale Cd wines and tell Tony we sent you). Take a cooking lesson at the old bishops residence, or pick up supplies to experiment yourself - try the olives, cheeses, lamb, Trunkey bacon, fresh vegetables, berries, cherries, apples and peaches. Sip the Fish River Roasted coffee.
Live music venues; international performers at BMEC; photographers, painters, sculptors, and artsist of every kind (Check out Atelier dAIRY CReATivE website); Team sports, motor racing, horse racing and trots, cycling and mountain bikes, swimming, dragon boats on Chifly Dam, sailing, water skiing, bush walking, rock climbing and canyoning; a lazy stroll with Kangaroos in the top paddock.
Take a drive to Jenolan Caves; a hike to Evans Crown for breathtaking views; book to dine at an acclaimed restaurant; take a day trip to Orange, or Sofala, or Hill End; cruise down to Cowra and visit the 'Breakout' or Japanese Gardens.
Have you seen the collection of original Loyd Rees paintings and drawings at the Gallery? Have you seen the fossils, gems and skeletons of the Summerville Collection? Have you taken a 'fast lap' round Mount Panorama? or ridden a wild one at the Rockley Rodeo? Have you searched the 'dark night sky' from the observatory? Have the kids been to the Sheep and Cattle Drome? 20 Laps of Bathurst indoor heated pool? or a quick circuit at any one of the local Gyms?
It's just 15 mins to Mayfield Gardens which is a whole lot closer than most English country mansions complete with “Capability Brown” picturesque landscape style. It's 10 mins to Chifly Dam with your ski boat or sailing dingy, and you can check the breeze before you leave. Just down the road to the wending Fish or Campbells Rivers, but don't be greedy with our trout. Kangaroo, deer, echidna, emu and fox, but only shoot with your camera.
There really is too much to do, too nearby... so our recommendation is just sit back on the jetty, pour a quiet cuppa or local Red... and plan your next visit.

A home that fits so much in
The house has 2 Queen Beds and 2 additional singles on request, comfortably accommodating up to 6 adults (plus an infant in travel cot).
Highview Jetty was designed to answer those clients who ask "have you ever done it like that before?" "Trust me, I'm an architect" never really seemed convincing, so we experimented on ourselves... and now you can be the 'crash-test wombat".
6 Adults in a 12sq home?
water pillows under the floor?
custom transparent walling system with inbuilt shading and privacy screening?
raw hardwood and concrete floors with Bee's wax?
thermally separated double glazing?
rock walls in a steel cage?
rusty blades forming a colonnade?
a jetty that misses the water by a kilometer?
It might win awards, but who really cares... so long as you have a comfortable stay! We trust there might also be a little delight and discovery along the way.
Highview Jetty provides 2 Queen bedrooms, a study and a dresser/sitting rm. The generous Queen Beds are at opposite ends of the sleeping pavilion so that 2 couples can share the house with privacy and comfort. But you can also bring 2 small families and enjoy the mayhem!
(The bunk beds that are familiar to our return guests have been removed in favour of the study and dressing rm)
Bathing accommodation is a 3 way arrangement with a double vanity in a generous 'shared zone' and a separate toilet and separate shower/bath for individual privacy.
The living pavilion is luxuriously comfortable for a few nestled in the italian leather lounge to take in the view, and can seat 10 for dinner around the Tasmanian Blackwood table (16 with extensions). The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped for any eventuality, and the gas log fire tops up the ambience and warmth at the push of a button.
No smoking permitted within the home or near suurounds.
Sorry no pets... we have wildlife on the property - Roos sometimes sleep under the jetty right outside the bedroom, and the echidna likes its privacy in the hollow of the nearby tree.
No outdoor fires due to local fire bans.
No excessive alcohol consumption leading to nuisance or damage.
Enjoy highVIEW jetty and the wonderful Bathurst region... a stridently modern country house nearby Australia’s Oldest Inland Settlement.
