Situated in one of Charlestown’s most enviable positions, this traditional Cornish cottage has it all. Sit back and watch the tall ships bobbing in the harbour from the comfort of your bed, or walk a few steps for a pint of local ale at the pub. Dating back hundreds of years, the cottage itself oozes plenty of period charm whilst a recent renovation ensures your stay is met with maximum comfort. Beautiful period features have been maintained throughout, from wooden sash windows to exposed beams.
The Space:
Step through the doors of this double fronted cottage and you will be met with a space that is instantly welcoming. Wood panelled walls, a large sumptuous velvet sofa and wood burner provide ample cosiness in the living room. Sit back and watch a film on the TV or while away the hours admiring the views and chatting with loved ones. Next door, the spacious galley kitchen has been fully kitted out with everything you need to whip up delicious holiday meals. Find an oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine. The dining room is lovely come day or night, with tasteful neutral décor that acts as the perfect backdrop to joyful conversations.
Two bedrooms are found on the first floor, with elevated views of the water that are best enjoyed with a morning cup of tea. Both have comfortable double beds that are covered with high quality linens, as well as thoughtful finishing touches such as antique furniture and botanical artwork. The modern family bathroom boasts stylish marble tiles, plus a bath and shower - ideal for when you need a relaxing soak. No expense has been spared in making the cottage as homely as possible, and it’ll be difficult to tear yourself away at the end of a memorable week! To top it all off, the spacious garden is a real sanctuary; soak up the sunshine with a good book in hand as birdsong hums from the trees. Ample parking for two to three cars is available on the private driveway.

The Neighborhood:
This beautiful cottage is located in the historic Grade II listed harbour, Charlestown. Brimming with charm and delight, the harbour is used in a number of well known TV shows such as Poldark. Today, it remains an amazingly pristine, unspoiled example of a late Georgian working port - dating back to the 1700s. When you step out of the front door, you will be immediately met with the beauty of Tall Ships floating with the breeze in the port, as well as quaint cobbled pathways. Tall Ships are quite a rarity here in the UK, so it’s a fantastic opportunity to be able to see some docked up. The Grade II protected Historic Port of Charlestown is a museum where you can pay a small fee to explore the old granite harbour. There is also a lovely stretch of shingled shoreline underneath the harbour front that is otherwise known as Charlestown Beach. Whilst it may not be the best spot to sunbathe, that shouldn't stop you from heading out and discovering fascinating Smuggler's Coves!
There are a number of great pubs and eateries dotted around the harbour, all of which are a stone's throw away. Enjoy delicious home cooked meals washed down with pints of local ale at the traditional Pier House Hotel and tuck into freshly caught fish at The Boathouse, The Longstore or Charlestown Fish Co (brilliant takeaway!). Fabulous Cream Teas are served in a number of the nearby cafes too, such as The Gallery and Charlie’s Coffee House - you certainly won’t struggle to eat well on your holiday!
There are plenty of beautiful beaches in the area, with the Roseland Peninsula right on the doorstep. This is one of Cornwall’s final frontiers, remaining relatively untouched and peaceful even during the summer period. Head along the east coast and you will find Carlyon Beach, whilst to the west is Porthpean - both are around a 5 minute drive and offer good swimming and bathing opportunities. In summer, Carlyon Beach is transformed with beach bars and beach theatre! You can also pick up the South West Coastal Path from the door and walk to either in around 30 minutes. One of the real highlights of this part of Cornwall is, of course, the Eden Project. The world-famous and award-winning biomes are a hub of nature and wildlife. Explore the world’s largest indoor rainforest and immerse yourself in the calming feel of the Mediterranean Biome. Enjoy extensive Outdoor Gardens, contemporary artworks, performance and storytelling. The cottage is just a quick 7 minute drive away!
Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of Cornwall, we would recommend bringing a car for your stay. There is ample parking for 2 large or 3 small vehicles on the private driveway, as well as an additional vehicle in the side passage.
Other Things to Note:
The stairs in the cottage are quite steep, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility limitations or younger children.
This is a historic period property which was not built to modern aesthetics. This is of course part of its charm, however, it also means that some spaces may be tight - especially for taller guests!
The garden gate is not fully secure for dogs, please don't leave your dog unattended in the garden.
