While you’re visiting the stunning Victorian Goldfields, come and stay in this period home typical of the gold-rush era which is situated on the doorstep of where gold was first discovered in the Bendigo Creek in 1851. Explore the hidden tunnels of the gold mines, take in the city views aboard the vintage talking tram and gaze in wonder at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, the third largest cathedral in Australia, all in an accessible 2km radius from the cottage.
The space:
Built in 1915, Corlett Cottage is a period home typical of the bygone gold rush era with picket fence and cottage gardens yet is surprisingly spacious, sleeping seven people with ease.
Designed to refuel and refresh the soul, it is packed with all the amenities you’d hope for in a home, including a fully-equipped kitchen, gas-log fireplace and posturepedic beds.
Returning guests are welcome to nominate their preferred room which we will arrange for their stay.

Neighbourhood Description:
Golden Square sits on the fringe of central Bendigo and is, as the name suggests, the place where gold was first discovered in Bendigo. As a result, the neighbourhood streets are filled with period homes typical of the gold-rush era. The Golden Square Recreational Reserve and public swimming pool precinct lie diagonally across from the cottage and the Golden Square Village is at the end of the street. The Bendigo Creek trail is a 3min walk away which spans the entire city and it is common for people to walk, cycle or run their way along the creek for leisure and exercise. The central Woolworths is a convenient 1min drive or 8min walk away.
Getting Around:
There are a number of ways to get around Bendigo, however the most common and convenient is by car. There is plenty of parking available in the centre of town at low cost and you can quite easily get to most destinations in 5-10minutes from the cottage. There is off-street parking on the premises with capacity to fit one vehicle very comfortably and free street parking. The closest bus stop is 500m away and is a direct 7min bus trip to central Bendigo station. The Bendigo historic tram service is a scenic way to see the city and passengers can purchase tickets and alight the tram at Central Deborah Gold Mine which is a 15min walk or 3min drive away from the cottage. Taxis are another option of getting around. Trains stations are at regular intervals through the city however are mostly used to get in and out of the city rather than travel within it.
