****ACTIVITIES & IDEAS****
Hacienda Iguana is basically a quiet place were relaxation and ocean bound pursuits top people daily to-do’s. There are always lots of waves (and fish) to catch and the mile long stretch of soft white sand never grows old. Dry land activities include day trips to local attractions such as Granada, Ometepe and San Juan del Sur. These excursions offer opportunities for cultural as well as physical adventures: Granada is a UNESCO World Heritage site; Ometepe is simply one of the most startling and biodiverse places on the planet; San Juan del Sur was the original tourist capital of the country and at just over an hour from Captiva is a fun place to spend an afternoon and see more of the country.
Nearby there are a variety of hikes where you are likely to see all manner of exotic wildlife. Several local farmers have opened up the opportunity for us to show guests local farming techniques & explore that aspect of Nicaraguan culture (including having a try at hand milking a cow!). A horseback ride along the beach at sunset is a memorable & enjoyable way to end the day -- the horses are very docile, don’t worry!

We are located 2.5 hours from the main airport in Managua (MGA) or just 15 minutes from our local airport, Costa Esmerelda. Costa Esmerelda has limited connections so its generally easier to plan to arrive at Managua. We can organize inexpensive minibus transportation in new vehicles driven by staff drivers. These same vehicles & drivers are available throughout your stay for trips, activities, restaurant reservations etc.
