The Blue Bear Lodge by Mountain Vacation Lodging is a Pet-Free Home that offers the ultimate combination of ample size, luxurious quality, truly spectacular views, and a plethora of in house amenities. Located within the gates of the prestigious Cordillera community, high above the valley floor, yet a short drive to Edwards, Beaver Creek, or Vail. Of course, when you get to this home, and see the incredible views, you may not want to leave. The home offers 5 bedroom suites, including 3 with fireplaces, plus a sixth bedroom. In addition to a very impressive great room and a gourmet kitchen, the Blue Bear Lodge includes a private indoor basketball court, a rec room with billiards table, a home theater, speakers throughout the house, a private hot tub, a primary bedroom suite that is to die for, and extensive decks. Everything about this home is on a grand scale. Please read on for more details.
The Property:
When you walk through the front door, the view through the banks of windows will capture your gaze immediately. When that wears off, the size, scale, and quality of the great room will start to sink in. Beautiful hardwood floors complement the massive log posts and beams. 25 foot vaulted tongue and groove ceilings enhance the spacious feel of the room while an eclectic and tasteful mix of area rugs and furnishings soften it. The great room includes a primary sitting area focused around the oversized fireplace, as well as two more sitting areas by the windows where you can enjoy some games as well as the views.
The gourmet kitchen has a style reminiscent of French country homes. It features top of the line appliances, including a restaurant quality gas range with 6 burners plus a grill and dual ovens. The large island features a farmhouse style sink, a secondary fridge, and plenty of counter space for prepping or appetizers. This kitchen is fully equipped and then some, an idyllic place to create culinary delights. There are two dining rooms that adjoin the kitchen. The larger of the two comfortably seats 8 and is open to the great room, while the secondary dining area seats 6 more in style. French doors lead to a heated quartzite deck that stays snow free all winter long, the perfect place to grill out, with a view.
Downstairs you'll find more great living space. The main room includes a full size billiards table and a sitting area by the second of the home's five fireplaces. Off this main room you will find the home theater and wine room. The basketball court is down here too, complete with a mural of the LA Laker basketball stars Shaq and Kobe. In a thoughtful design, a door between the basketball court and the main rec room help keep any noise contained. Also just off this lower level living space is a wet bar, laundry room and one of the home's two powder rooms. Another great feature is the lower level's deck, which runs the entire length of the home and is covered. This area is sheltered from the sun and snow, and increases the living space of the home by quite a lot. The private hot tub was placed right next to the lower level deck, just a few steps from the back door.
If you thought the great room was impressive, wait until you see the primary bedroom suite. It takes up the entire eastern side of the home, and is bigger than many Vail Village condos! At the foot of the plush King bed is a custom trunk that hides a large HDTV. With the push of a button, it raises and lowers to allow you to enjoy your favorite programming or the stunning views through the doors and windows. The bedroom includes a large desk with a monitor, if you must work, as well as a loveseat and armchair next to the warm gas fireplace. Two sets of French doors provide direct access to one of the home's large decks. The same vaulted tongue and groove ceilings found in the great room extend throughout the bedroom suite, including the bathroom portion, which is spa-like. A large jacuzzi tub is the literal centerpiece of the bathroom, but the features are all around. Of course there are two sinks, but this bathroom has two water closets. It also has a large steam shower, private sauna, and a makeup station. Get ready to be spoiled!
You'll find Bedrooms 2 and 6 upstairs, on the western side of the home. Bedroom 2 has another King sized bed and perhaps the best view of any room. It also includes vaulted ceilings, matching chairs by the private fireplace, an HDTV, very large walk in closet, and a private bathroom. The bathroom features travertine tile, a large vanity with dual sinks, and a very large jetted bathtub with shower. The walk in closet is so large that it has two doors. One of them closes the closet space off from a short stairway that leads to Bedroom 6. This bedroom can also be accessed via stairs from the main level, near the kitchen, but it's connection to Bedroom 2 can make the two rooms ideal for parents who want to be close, but not too close, to their kids. Bedroom 6 has a Queen size bed plus a futon and HDTV. Also, adjacent to Bedroom 2, there is a loft style lounge area which overlooks the great room.
Bedrooms 3, 4, and 5 are downstairs. All of them are large, have 9 foot ceilings, and all of them have their own private bathroom. Bedroom 3 is very similar to Bedroom 2. It has a King size bed, a sitting area next to the private fireplace, a wall mounted HDTV, a very large walk in closet, and a large private bathroom. The bathroom finishes are slate and granite instead of travertine, and the tub with shower is a jacuzzi tub. Also, this bedroom has doors that provide direct access to a covered deck. Bedroom 4 is on the other end of the lower level, and also has direct access to the covered deck. Here you have yet another large bedroom with a King size bed and space to spare. It has a wall mounted HDTV that you can enjoy from bed, a private bathroom, and walk in closet. The bathroom includes a vanity with plenty of counter space and walk in shower. Bedroom 5 has a split King bed which can be set up as either one King size bed or two Twin beds, with bedding to match the arrangement. See the photo slide show, which shows the bedroom both ways. Again, this room is a suite, with walk in closet and a private bathroom that includes a shower and bathtub.
Location:
Cordillera is an upscale country club community and a destination of its own, but it is also very close to many local attractions and conveniences. The home is 6 miles up the the mountain from highway 6 on the floor of the Eagle Valley, and a total of 8.6 miles from the Edwards Riverwalk, shopping, and dining. The home is only 12.7 miles to parking at the base of Beaver Creek Ski Resort and 20.1 miles to Vail Village and Lionshead. Within the Cordillera community, this home offers a very large lot with few neighboring properties. The Blue Bear Lodge is perched at the top of the Squaw Creek Valley, amongst extensive aspen forests. With the outdoor spaces on the backside of the home, facing those incredible views, the home feels very private. Incredible views, privacy, and convenience to amenities, this location has it all.
Arrival, Access, and Parking:
Before and after you book your reservation, we're here to support you. We offer professional concierge services, provide you with arrival instructions, and answers to any specific questions you might have. Accessing or entering this property does require going down 2-3 stairs, and there are a few stairs here and there on the main level. So, this property is easy to access, but it is not ideal for wheelchairs. The home has a 3-car garage but only 1 of the 3 bays are accessible to guests. The property owner uses the remaining two garage bays for their personal vehicle and storage. There is additional outdoor parking for 3 to 4 more vehicles. Trailers are not allowed. Off site parking for additional vehicles may be available just up the street, at the Athletic Club. Please contact us to discuss before booking if you might have more than 4 vehicles at a time. Parking on the road is prohibited. The roads are well maintained, but vehicles with 4WD or AWD are recommended in seasons when snow is possible.
