With 2 bedrooms featuring a queen bed and a day bed with pull out trundle, this adorable Yurt is perfect for small groups or families. Enjoy the wood burning fireplace, endless private trails, highland cattle in the pastures and private swimming pond. Our space is equipped for both long or short stays to make your holiday one to remember.
"Camp David" is an off the grid 24’ yurt; tucked into a BIG, BEAUTIFUL, private forest, near Hamilton Ontario. Powered solely by solar and wind energy the yurt utilizes rain water for shower and washing, and a wood stove provides warmth and ambiance during the cooler months.
Each season brings its own unique treasures to the yurt experience. Come and be one with your surroundings as you relax, unwind and be still in all the magic that is LUNA
The space
This Yurt experience is tailored for one (1) to three (3) adults maximum. OR up to two (2) adults and two (2) children.
The yurt boasts a comfortable Queen bed - with unobstructed window views of the forest, twin trundle bed with lots of big comfy pillows, fully equipped kitchen with a cooler to keep your items chilled…don’t forget the ice!! The counters are beautiful reclaimed barn wood, and a cozy dining area in front of the woodstove sets the stage for perfect fire gazing.
There’s a 2 piece bathroom with composting toilet that completes the space.
Outside you'll find a beautiful living area nestled under a towering pine, not to mention 4km of private hiking trails and a dreamy outdoor shower.
Yurt life is an experience not to be missed...come and unplug for a bit, we look forward to hosting you.
Guest access
When you arrive, you will have a gravel parking space near the yurt. You will have access to all trails (4km in total, map provided), outdoor living area, and of course "Camp David". All other buildings are intended for use of other guests or participants registered for retreats or programs at LUNA.
Other things to note
Our ask is that LUNA be enjoyed with a clear mind, body and spirit. We request that you aim to enjoy your stay at LUNA to be still, quiet, technology free and enjoy your surroundings and each other.
Our only source of heat during the cool months is a wood stove. Keeping warm will require that your fire be tended throughout your stay, it's one of the most crutial aspects of happily living in a yurt during the winter. Water is also at a premium during all seasons so our main water supply to the shower and sinks will be turned off from November 01st to May 01st-ish.
We will be sure to provide you with extra jugs of water for all of your "off-grid" needs.
Don't forget to bring some extra warm clothes just encase your fire skills aren't quite up to par...I'm sure they will be by the time you leave. There's a warm duvet on the bed and plenty of home made quilts to warm your spirit.
Our power system is limited so please expect that when the sun shines or wind blows, there will be enough power for lighting and to charge a phone. If required, we have a back up generator we can supply you with along with lanterns if needed. Bring a flashlight and ice for the cooler.
